Tyrone Fa (Senior Electrotechnical Engineer)

Born in Gibraltar, Tyrone has been involved in the engineering profession since his graduation in 1996 with a BEng Honours degree in Electrical Engineering and a Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering awarded by Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining the Gibraltar Electricity Authority in 2004 as an Electro Technical Officer, Tyrone had worked for eight years within various engineering disciplines in Gibraltar, during which time he gained valuable local knowledge of other engineering fields such as mechanical, communications and information technology.

In 2007, Tyrone was promoted to Senior Electro Technical Engineer. He is a specialist in High Voltage and Low Voltage switchgear, network protection and grading and in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, with over 10 years of experience in various new and upgrade projects throughout Gibraltar.

In his current post, Tyrone is the Head of Division of both the Electrical Building Services Division and the Electro Technical Division. As such, he is responsible for all HV and LV plant and equipment at Waterport Power Station, including the generators, the SCADA system and all substations and Distribution Centers located throughout Gibraltar, including transformers, Low Voltage fuseboards, High Voltage switchgear, protection relays, battery chargers, fire detection systems, emergency lighting and protection equipment.

His responsibilities under the Electrical Building Services Division include the electrical maintenance and upgrade of all H. M. Government of Gibraltar offices and buildings, residential housing estates and educational premises.

Tyrone is a Chartered Engineer of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, previously the Institute of Electrical Engineers and is registered as such with the Engineering Council UK. He is also an accredited professional member of the Chartered Management Institute.
