New Power Station

The Gibraltar Electricity Authority, with the support of H.M. Government of Gibraltar, has embarked on its largest project to date, with the tender for the New Power Station having been awarded to Bouygues Energies & Services SAS.

On the 11th December 2014, agreements were signed by all parties involved, with the price of the New Power Station amounting to £77 million. Furthermore, an agreement for the Operation and Management for the first 12 months of operation of the New Power Station has also been agreed at a price of £2 million.

New Distribution Centres

As part of the Gibraltar Electricity Authority’s improvement program to its existing infrastructure, works are currently ongoing to procure the equipment required for the Mid Harbour Distribution Centre.

Furthermore, plans are being drafted for the construction of a further two Distribution Centres in the North and East of Gibraltar, which will no doubt help the Gibraltar Electricity Authority with the distribution of Electricity Supply to all Customer’s premises.

New bill formats

Over the last year, the Gibraltar Electricity Authority and AquaGib Limited have been working on the design of a New Bill Format, intended to help Customer’s better understand both their Electricity and Water Consumption.

As part of the process, both entities embarked on obtaining the views of its Customers through the establishment of focus groups, as well as issuing informative leaflets and a short video explaining the changes being introduced.

The New Bill Format has been launched in June 2015. Check it out the new bill explanation video:
