Distribution Network Division

Gibraltar Electricity Authority: Distribution The Network Division is headed by the Senior Network Engineer and carries responsibility for the transmission and distribution of electricity, encompassing the High Voltage (11000 volts) and Low Voltage (415/240 volts) networks together with street lighting, traffic signaling equipment, etc.  The Gibraltar Electricity Authority operates a transmission system which transfers electricity to three main distribution centres, located at Jumper’s Bastion, Orange Bastion and Waterport Power Station, from where more than seventy sub-stations are supplied.  All transmission lines are now at 11kV, three phase, three wire, 50 Hz.

The LV distribution network is supplied at 415V, three phase, four wire, 50 Hz.

This Division is also responsible for the drawing office, the processing of Building Applications, design work for new projects and the issuing of cable/site clearance certificates.
